Professional customers can increasingly personalize their digital bank

Press release

22 December 2021

Starting today, ABN AMRO offers business customers the ability to perform IBAN name verifications themselves, using an API.

Verifying customer data is a laborious and time consuming process for many businesses. By integrating the IBAN-Name Check API, they can make their business processes more efficient and minimize the risk of errors and fraud. A name-number (additional) check is useful when transferring large sums, but also when entering new customers into the system.

The IBAN-Name Check API is the seventh API that ABN AMRO makes available to its professional customers. With previously released APIs, businesses could get real-time insight into their bank accounts, receive payment notifications, initiate payments themselves, send payment requests, and hedge currency risks. Each entrepreneur decides for himself how and when to integrate an API into his business process.

Businesses gain control over the way they organize their banking affairs

An API (Application Programming Interface) allows two applications to communicate with each other. By working with APIs, corporate clients design their own personalized banking method that adapts to their business processes, customers, and financial administration.

Patrick Pfaff, CEO of Commercial Banking: “APIs are already widely used in other sectors. It is expected that, in the coming years, professional customers will begin to use more and more personalized banking solutions. Of course, we will continue to offer traditional banking possibilities as well, using apps and the Internet. This way, businesses, from small SMEs to multinationals, can choose the banking mode that best suits their way of doing business.

Partnerships

The IBAN-Name Check API is offered through a partnership with SurePay, a company that offers this functionality in the market. For ABN AMRO, this is the first API offered in collaboration with a partner. In other areas, the bank is already working closely with external partners to offer customers additional services.
