Richmond-based Atlantic Union Bank has named Maria Tedesco its chief operating officer, effective immediately.

This is a new position for the bank. Tedesco will also continue in her role as President. She joined the bank in 2018 and previously served as COO of BMO Harris Bank’s U.S. retail and business banking services, as well as community banking positions.

In his new role, Tedesco will lead customer-centric business units including Personal and Business Banking, Wholesale Banking, Wealth Management, Home Lending, Technology and Operations, Marketing, digital strategy and enterprise experience, business intelligence and the first line of defense against risk.

“From the day Maria walked through our doors as president in 2018, she has been an incredible asset,” Atlantic CEO John C. Asbury said in a statement. “Maria has delivered significant tangible and intangible results for our customers, our communities, our teammates and our shareholders. Her customer-focused approach to our business will continue to serve us well as she assumes the expanded role of President and Chief Operating Officer. »

Atlantic Union has 130 branches and 150 ATMs across Virginia and parts of Maryland and North Carolina.
