Leading UK law firm Shoosmiths has recruited Barry Stimpson, an investment fund lawyer, to its corporate team.
Barry’s experience as a fund specialist with city and international law firms spans over 30 years advising clients on the creation of real estate, venture capital and private equity funds. investment and other investment structures, as well as on mergers and acquisitions, IPOs and other corporate work.
His job is to advise fund managers, investors and professional service firms on limited liability companies, company agreements and mergers.
Barry joins Shoosmiths after five years as Head of Fund Practice at Womble Bond Dickinson and previously was an Investment Banker, where he gained experience in the real estate and listed funds industries to bring an understanding of the drivers financial and legal behind the projects.
His mission will be to further develop the company’s fund offering by working closely with corporate, tax, property, regulatory and banking and finance teams across the UK at Shoosmiths. His arrival also complements the company’s dynamic team in London, fresh out of Shoosmiths’ recent move to One Bow Churchyard in the city.
The Chambers & Partners legal directory cites Barry as an outstanding practitioner with clients describing him as “very responsive and very knowledgeable in the industry”, adding that he is “pragmatic and an excellent negotiator”.
